Hope Senior Lindsey Boeve is one of 15 Hope students who had the opportunity to present their research findings at the 118th Annual Conference of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters at Alma College earlier this month. Over the past four summers, under the supervision of Professor Deb Sturtevant, Lindsey spent 10-12 hours a week using high-powered statistical software to determine whether a program that provides infant formula to children in the African nation of Zambia is working. She poured over rows and rows of data and used mathematical formulas to determine whether these orphans, who lack proper nutrition, were gaining the weight they need to stay healthy. Lindsey stated that "The analysis program is how we get funding for the program, I feel like without the analysis portion of it, it wouldn't still exist." Lindsey also presented her research at the 2011 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).
