Jorge Capestany, manager of the DeWitt Tennis Center at Hope College and assistant Hope women’s tennis coach, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Karen Page Distinguished Service Award by the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association.
The award was presented on January 30 during the association’s annual workshop, held in Troy. The recognition carries extra meaning for Capestany because it is named in memory of a former colleague, Karen Page, who died of cancer in July 2009, was director of the college’s DeWitt Tennis Center and had coached the Hope women’s tennis team for 12 years.
Manager of the six-court DeWitt Tennis Center since the fall of 2003, Capestany is a 32-year veteran of the tennis industry. He is one of only 10 people world-wide that is a Master Professional with both the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
